I used to sing this song often when I was younger.. Try to learn it and I know that it can help you also: Lord I want to be Like Jesus:

The first step in becoming more Christlike is to strive to fill your heart and mind with a Christlike love for God and His Son, for our selves and for all others with all of your heart, might, mind and strength as the greatest commandment of our God and His Son Jesus stated within the scriptures. Now I have shared much about love on my first page so I will not write further about it at this time, but just hope and pray that you would strive to have this most incredible love of God and His Son with you always as described in my first page. By thinking and living this love alone you could become more like our Savior, but there is more that can greatly help you to become even more like Jesus that would be left out, which is communication with God, Our Father in Heaven through prayer, which is delivered in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ and another thing of most importance that can not be left out is that of striving to utilize the most incredible gift that our Heavenly Father and      Picture from:            His Son gave us, which is the gift of the atonement (Which includes us putting into action the full process of repentance, as none of mankind are perfect, excluding Jesus who is half man and God who is our perfect example, and we are all desperately in need of following through with this most precious gift that God and His Son has given us with the greatest of sacrifice on the part of our Savior, Jesus Christ..
    Then our road to being as our Savior would be incomplete if we did not have the road map of the scriptures in our lives where we can learn of Him and our Father in Heaven .. {and the Holy Ghost.}, so we can more fully begin to know how they think and would want us to think and act.. and none of this is any good if we do not put it into action.. and live the love the word of God and His Son, Jesus.

    So I will put the second step to becoming more Christlike as turning our hearts in prayer and sacred communication to our Heavenly Father (as taught us through Jesus Christ in the scriptures) for help and strength to overcome all evil that enters our mind or that comes our way that may surround us when we end up going through hard trials or sufferings of any sort... And we need to ask in prayer for God to help you think and live as Him and His beloved Son, our Savior, Jesus, our Christ...
     Prayer (Communication) with our Heavenly Father through His Son Christ Jesus is so critical in order to have Their spirit and the spirit of the Holy Ghost with us. (Together They complete the Holy Trinity which works together for the welfare of our souls and Who are as one in mind and purpose for our welfare, desiring to have Their spirits to be with us throughout each day and trial, to help us and to remind us that we are all Sons and Daughters of a Heavenly Father that cares for us and loves us dearly.
    Though They will help us at times when we are forgetting Them or choosing not to have them in our lives.. there are times that They will just wait and withhold help from us just waiting and hoping for us to be humble enough to realize that we need to remember that They are over all things, that they are there to help in all things if we but turn our hearts to them and especially in hoping that we realize that there are many times that we cannot battle satan or endure many trials on our own, without them..
   I love this most inspirational song about prayer: (add *Italian interpretation below..)

    A portion of our prayers that should many times come first is in giving God (and His Son) acknowledgment that we are thankful for all He gives us.. and we should be specific many times stating specific things we are thankful for..
     Many times the scriptures speak on being thankful.. In the scriptures even Jesus gave thanks to His Father in Heaven and so must we to let God that we are not ungrateful or forgetting all of the goodness that He sends our way.. and through the scriptures we have learned that there are times that we even need to be thankful for trials and sufferings .. We are told in the scriptures to give thanks in all things even the bad times.. for truly the trials you endure may end up becoming a blessing to you in many ways, especially in helping you to become closer to God and they can give you many opportunities to practice making Christlike choices.. and to help you to develop selfmastery and to overcome anything satan sends your way.. and to be more like God Himself in many ways..and to more deeply appreciate the many blessing that you do have despite sufferings.. and when we suffer it can bring us closer to the realization of an inkling of what our Savior must have suffered for us.. and anything you are suffering.. does not even begin to be close to the great sufferings of our Savior in the garden of Gethsemane...
    Here is a precious song that my cousin "Soulise" sings that is so sweet:

The most important part of prayer that we can use in communication with our Father in Heaven is in asking forgiveness for our wrong doings... as I told you of my death experience I tried to put into words how deeply my soul was in pain concerning my sins and how deeply I was suffering at the thoughts of not dwelling in paradise with my Savior and especially how heartsick I was at the thoughts of going to the lesser dwelling place.. and I had never felt so low and heartsick and this produced the deepest of soulwrenching desire to ask and plead for forgiveness within my soul and I cried out to God to forgive me from the bottom of my soul... and he did forgive me and give me a second chance at life....
     And now it is so important to me when I pray to ask God (and His Son) to forgive me that I not ask such a thing of Them unless my heart is so sincere and prepared to ask and unless I have done my part if needed to recompense or ask forgiveness of others if I
Pic from:          have wronged them..
    For it is critical for me to be a forgiving person of others if I am expecting God to have mercy and forgive me...
    And at this same time that I ask forgiveness I strive to remember the sufferings of my Savior for my sins.. for so great they were for me and all mankind that he suffered such incredible, indescribable pain that he even bled at every pore and that he had to have an angel come and strengthen Him.. or He would have perished..    Here is a precious song sung by Chris Rice:

The Lord gave us many examples of prayer: When He taught us to pray as in "The Lord's Prayer." which from childhood is such a wonderful scripture and prayer to have in your mind even throughout your life.. I prefer to sing it.. (I belong to a group called Sanctuary: Together we often perform about a 40 min presentation on the life of Christ.. (and more) We have a very unique group unlike any other: My dear friend Barbara Blackhurst writes incredible poetry and so she wrote this three page poem called "The Glorious Condescension" which entails the whole life of Christ.. She delivers it as a dramatic reading.. (all by memory as she has a photographic memory.) then we also have her cousin that is an incredible opera singer.. a professional pianist and then I perform on the violin.. and we take turns soloing or playing under her as she dramatically recites.. It is very precious and most are moved to tears throughout the whole thing.. Everyone feels the beautiful spirit of Christ when they hear it.. and it can be lifechanging for some we are told.. One of the songs that we choose to go along with the program is "The Lord's Prayer" and I play it through first with my violin and then the most moving opera singer sings it.. I love those precious words and example that Christ gave us.. study this prayer and analyze the different area that Jesus covers in it:
Mathew 6: 9-13 Our Father, Which art in Heaven.... Hallowed be Thy name... Thy kingdom come... Thy will be done... on earth as it is.. in Heaven.....   Give us this day our daily bread.... and forgive us our debts and we forgive our debtors... Lead us not into temptation... but deliver us from evil..  For thine is that kingdom,, and the power, and the glory, for ever... A... men.....
Here is a beautiful version of it, once more featuring Andrea Bocelli, but this time with the Tabernacle Choir: The Lord's Prayer:
       Just following this verse Jesus very straight forward expounds more on being a forgiving person which is a very important attribute in our quest towards being Christlike as he tells us just how important it is to forgive others as He teaches us: " For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Wow.. That is a pretty profound and powerful statement letting you know just how critical it is to forgive all.. Then to let God take over and deal with the person... And God will be just at times and yet very merciful at times.. He is the one much better to deal with the situation as He is all knowing.. and knows all of the information and the heart of everyone.. and He is so much better off to judge than we are... Wish our worldly Judges could know all that God does.. So being a forgiving person is critical to being a Christlike person... There are other scriptures to expound on this... But I already expounded on this subject on my first page as I did love... so be sure to read it again if needed... Here is a precious song on asking for forgiveness and being a forgiving person that I luv...
     In another portion of the Lord's prayer Jesus told us to: "Pray often, lest ye enter into temptation.".  Then I will once more remind you of His expounding on the commandment of love when he told us to pray for our enemies: Mathew chapter 5: "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy, but I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefuly use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:"
     He prayed over the little children, blessing them in prayer.. He uttered a prayer of thanks to His Father in Heaven.... (Where & scripture)
   When He gave us the example of the sacramental prayer and blessed the bread and the wine with words that we should do it in remembrance of Him and His sufferings for our sins and that we should ask forgiveness at this time.. .. The sacrament means so much incredibly more to me since my death experience.. that words cannot truly describe my feelings..  As I take the sacrament my mind dwells back to the deepest of level of sincere pleading of forgiveness that I had during my death experience... Never had I asked and pleaded for it with such intensity and desires.. and from on now when I desire to ask forgiveness from God and my Savior I want it to be with a portion of this intensity...  and also remembering the great suffering and pains that I was enduring and yet I was told that it was only an inkling of what the Savior suffered my me and all mankind.. The sacrament that the Savior introduced was presented to us with the Savior's desire to remember Him but most of all to remember that He suffered for our sins and that this was the time to finalize a repentant heart and renew our souls with the desire to overcome and strive to sin no more... Yet he knew that we were human and would sin again and at times even over and over and so this makes it even that much more important to regularly partake of the sacred, Holy sacrament.. and if my mind is not in the right state of spirituality or if I have been arguing with my husband then I will not partake of the sacrament.. for I am not prepared to truly repent and remember my Savior.. The sacrament represents the sufferings of my Savior for my sins and sufferings of my imperfect soul...  I have taken the sacrament in several religions but I love and deeply appreciate the words of the LDS religions sacramental prayers which so reverently and loving read:
      O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it; that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto Thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of Thy Son, and always remember Him, and keep His commandments which He hath given them, that they may always have His Spirit to be with them. Amen.
     O God, the Eternal Father, we ask Thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this wine to the souls of all those who drink of it, that they may do it in remembrance of the blood of thy Son, which was shed for them; that they may witness unto Thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may have His Spirit to be with them. Amen.
   That we do always remember Him... Always... Keeping in our thoughts which leads to action..
Most times I am moved to tears as these prayers are said and I ask forgiveness of my sins that I have committed that week and that I have truely turned to God daily asking forgiveness with a true and sincere heart... And where I have done my part to repair or recompense a person where I can.. and where I can't I have to just leave it in God's hands.. and pray for mercy.. and ask for His Amazing Grace
     He his last examples of prayer were found just before He suffered and while he suffered such great sufferings for us and all mankind.. in the garden of Gethsemane and then His last prayers were shared with us as they were recorded by His disciples who awaited below Him on the cross: (I know that we have many unrecorded prayers that He would have given.. but sadly they are not recorded.. Then his final example of prayer for us came during His great suffering while on the cross.. Here is His ultimate lesson of forgiveness to us: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do... "
   Christ's prayers to His Heavenly Father I am sure were just as similar as if we were speaking often and lovingly to one of our earthly parents.. We have not all of the many times over that He must have regularly communicated with his Heavenly Father..
    In the scriptures we are taught to have a prayer always in our hearts and minds.. We are taught to pray over many things.. and to acknowledge God's part in our lives and in all things..
 The apostles also expound on prayer here and there throughout the New Testament: In
     Philippians 4:6 we read: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
     In 1Corinthians 7:5 we read:  Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
     Paul's prayer for Israel: Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
     In Romans 12:12 we read: Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing constant in prayer. *and I love these remaining verses in this chapter of Romans by the apostle Paul: Very important words to becoming more Christlike (Read the whole chapter.. that gives advice on how we should be and treat each other..)

A third important step  that will help you to be like Jesus is to have regular scripture study and scripture memorization so that we can have the word of God and His Son, Jesus Christ embedded in our mind so we can access it often when we need it or just have it's goodness involuntarily just come to our thoughts often so it can help us, edify us and uplift us.. and then so we can take God's words and put them into action as we live the word of God & His Son and... also so we can share it often with others
       Picfromweb:           to edify and uplift them..
    On this page I will be sharing scriptures that should help us to think like and desire to be like our beloved Savior... I will also share my favorite scriptures for memorizing... scripture cards that U can download to use in a variety of ways and to hopefully memorize.. because the more that we can get the word of God and our Savior into our mind, the easier it is to begin thinking like him.. The same if we have special spiritual or uplifting music of him embedded in our mind.. or many other resources available to us.. The more that we fill our mind with spiritual things then the more we are filling up a spiritual well for our brain to access.. If you are just filling up your brain with things of the world then all it will be able to dwell on are things of the world.. Especially if you are one to be filling it up with alot of low standard T.V., movies, music or gaming filled with violence, immodesty, sex or sexual speaking, or degrading words such as swearing and taking God and the Lord's name in vain.. or lude humor.. or degradation of religion and sacred things of God and our Savior, then your brain is more apt to fill up with a well full of dirty, filthy water (thoughts).. instead of a mind full of spiritual "living" water (thoughts)..
     For when Jesus was at the well with the woman that he asked to give him drink.. He knew of her iniquities and he knew of her great worth.. and as she dipped for her water He told her that he had living water for her instead that would last forever... and where she would never again thirst.. and we know that it meant the word of God and His gospel.... (Refer to John 4: 7-29 for the full account) Jesus said unto her: "Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again, But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
And in Mathew 5:4 Jesus tells us that: "Men shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. "
  and in Colossians 2:2-3 we read:  That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and hidden knowledge.
   So the words of God and His Son, Jesus are as a precious treasure more priceless than any worldly treasure that with time "moth or rust doth corrupt." and that you cannot take with you when you die. Their words are as a heavenly treasure to think and live by.
(*Try to check out my FB site: Scripture Power Memorization.. It is so beneficial to us spiritually to memorize scriptures so we can carry the word of God and His Son, Jesus with us wherever we go.. Strive to do so and I will tell U that many great times will come to U where they can uplift and edify U and others..)

      (Now I do realize that some of these scriptures have been shared already on my home page or on the other pages.. But.. always remember that repetition is a good thing and that we should read the scriptures over and over.. It isn't as my son told me at three years old where we should only hear something once and then never again.. He said to me one day when he was about three:
   "Mom, you already taught me that.. You don't need to say it ever again.." Well I knew that there would be times I would need to lovingly review or remind him again here and there throughout his life.. One times review, only for our children, even ourselves as adults, or for mankind, is just not enough.. A parents job is never done.. and so it is with our loving Heavenly Father that is striving to raise us best He can..He is so patient with us, many times He ends up reviewing things with us even over and over hoping that we will catch on and learn or desire to change and follow and live by His liberating and exalting words.. and so sadly, many times we are so slow to learn or turn to Him..
    So I had to stop and remind my son that we don't always remember and there will be times that we will forget or if we don't review what Heavenly Father and Jesus want for us often enough then it will be easier to choose the wrong things of the world that allow satan to take over our thoughts and actions.. and I reminded him that I review things more than once with him because I love him so dearly and am just concerned for him and not trying to be bothersome but am trying to help him so he won't have to suffer.. .. and I told him that throughout all of our life we need examples and reminders about how to be good, and things that we should be doing and even reminders here and there to help others.. and then I told him that I love the word of God and Jesus in the Scriptures and I will read them over and over because it is good for me to be reminded by my Heavenly Father and Jesus my wiser and older brother that love and care for me and want the best for me...  of how I should be living..
     And when we hear the word of God over and over and especially when we memorize the scriptures.. They will pop up often in our minds and we will put them into words and action and they won't just be goodly thoughts remaining in our mind only.. And I think even more importantly:  WHEN WE HAVE THE SCRIPTURES (THE WORD OF GOD AND HIS SON JESUS) IN OUR MIND AND HEART OFTEN THEN IT IS MUCH EASIER TO KEEP SATAN AND HIS EVIL THOUGHTS FROM US.)

Scriptures that help us be like and think like our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ: (I hope that you would strive to memorize these..)

The number one virture that we must possess to become more as God and Jesus is Love..
I will once more share scriptures of love from the first page, but introduce some new ones to you also:
 John 13:34 Jesus said: "A new commandment I give unto you: That ye love one another as I have loved you.. by this shall men know that ye are my disciples when ye have love one to another.."

  1 Peter 1:22 See that ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren (refers to sisters also and ofcorse all mankind..), see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently.

 1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren (and sisters), be pitiful (Having pity: being empathetic, sorry for others and forgiving), and be courteous.

Galatians 5:13 For brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh (giving into evil), but by love serve one another.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (Many military comrades have followed through with this one.. )

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
(Now I want you reread this scripture and in the place of the word fear and feareth add the word hate and hateth.. .. Infact think of any vice of satan and the pure love of Christ can cast it out.. That is why it is the ultimate commandment.. When I had the pure love of Christ with me no evil thoughts of satan could penetrate my mind .. and when I looked at someone even if an evil person on the news or if my son was trying to say mean things to me.. All I could do is look at him and everyone with this most incredible feeling of love for them that I have ever had for anyone ever in my life.
Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Now I want to share other scriptures that can help us to be and think and act like Jesus, our ultimate example:

Proverbs 21:13
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cryof the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard..

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not.... for I am with thee... Be not dismayed.. for I am thy God.. I will strengthen thee.. yea.. I will help thee... Yea.. I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness...

Romans 3:31
What then shall we say to these things?  If God is for us... then who can be against us???

 1  Corinth.10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do it all to the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 4:18
While we look not at the things which are seen.. but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal: but the things which are not seen are eternal...

 2 Nephi 31:30
Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope and a love of God and of all men.  Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the words of Chrsit and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life...

Philippians 3:13
 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus

 1 Timothy 6:11
But thou, oh man of God….  Flee from evil and follow after righteousness… Godliness.. Faith… Love… Patience…. And meekness.....

Isaiah 40:31
 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength...They will soar on wings like eagles...  They will run & not grow weary.. They will walk & not be faint.. :

Psalm 23: 1-5
     The Lord is my Shepherd... He maketh me to lie down in green pastures... He leadeth me beside still waters... He restoreth my soul... He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake... Yea... tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil.. for Thou art with me ... Thy rod and staff they comfort me.. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies (and in heaven):  Thou anointest my head with oil:  my cup runneth over.... surly  goodness  and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life (if I follow God): and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

  Galatians 5:22-23
 But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness and temperance: Against such there is no law..

 (I will be adding more and more scriptures as time goes on.. Have ideas.. email me..)

Another key in becoming as the Savior is to be helping and giving to others... Charity is the pure love of Christ.. and we are suppose to: Hebrew 12: 12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and (strengthen {used in Job 4:4}) the feeble knees; and we are asked to (expound more and add a paragraph about those that help others from all religions..)

New paragraph

    I love this special poem by St. Francis De Assisi .. It was inspired by the teachings of Jesus in the scriptures.. ofcorse:

Lord make me an instrument of Thy peace..

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to
eternal life. .Here is a beautiful modern rendition of the poem.. Here is another rendition that I also love... by Olivia Newton John.... Very beautiful..

Here is another song on peace that I love.... Remember that "God has called us to walk in peace" 1 Corinthians 7:15.....    and "to depart from evil, do good and seek peace and pursue it...  Psalms 34:14...    I really like this version by the country singer Vince Gill:

Here is another beautiful song of peace... love.. and wisdom... (catch onto the scripture?):
      Another one that I love is "The Prayer" with Celiene Dione and Andrea...

Here is one more very beautiful song on peace.... by the boys choir Libera....   A beautiful song of the peace and love of Christ....    very heavenly: is another great song about choosing peace.. and I luv this video also that shows us what the efforts of kindness and helping can lead to.. Let us all be instruments of peace.. luv and giving and helping others.. **WATCH THIS LIFE VEST kINDNESS BOOMERANG VIDEO   (if it doesn't work Or any of my video links do not work... U can pull up a seperate window and copy and paste the video address in the address box and it will pull up and U can listen to it then and there and when done can click back to the window with my website..)

Here is a great website for scriptures.. Here I have pulled up scriptures on kind words.. (or consequenses of mean words..)

       I have shared many thoughts and scriptures on ways to become a Christlike person.. In this paragraph I want to share thoughts on the power of being a positive person .. thinking, saying and doing things that are positive.. and uplifting and that can bring goodness into the lives of others instead of bringing them down: It is all part of thinking like God and our Savior, Jesus Christ.. and the Holy Ghost that is so many times striving to steer us into goodness and out of trouble..

First I want you to take the time to listen to this video on the power of words... to either bring aperson down to destroy them or to build a person up, to help them to change for the better and to help them overcome and rise above and to grow closer to God instead of farther from Him....
     Truly a person who is able to be this way and think positive and speak with kindness, understanding, foresight, desires to uplift others and desires to speak things that would bring others closer to God.. is far above and ahead of those with power.. riches.. or high status or social standing.. who lack these qualities in their Character..

 I was very blest to have the very wonderful, positive, strongwilled, kindhearted, giving, kind, wise, educated, and spiritual example of my grandmother in my life.. She was such an incredible woman in so many ways..  She would speak to me about being positive and about how critical it is to build the self esteem of others.. and to turn to the Lord in all you do.. She was a woman of great faith.. She and G'daddy raised two boys of their own and took in over 14 problem teens and each changed their life mentally, educationally, and spiritually before they left their place for the better.. There are many wonderful things that I could tell U about her such as she even taught at the Indian reservations and the "negros" at the other side of town at a time when not many white people would befriend them.. and she also became a nurse after her son died in the Korea war so she could help with the soldeiers that were coming home wounded from the war.. and she many years led a group called "The Singing Mother's" and they toured.. and she was over a nondenominational Bible study for her little town that many joined and loved.. and she raised prise violets.. and she played the piano wonderfully also.. and she graduated from college and taught from elementary to college students.. and even tutored children .. even up until three months before she died at age 86.. She was a very spiritual woman of great faith.. and was very close to God and Jesus and believed in positive thinking and turning ur life over to God and doing His will here upon the earth to help as many as U can.. She influenced the lives of hundreds of kids and even adults.... I was so blessed to have her as my grandmother:   When she was about 50 she wrote this speech to present to the teachers and PTA.. She was an incredible teacher.. She ended up mostly tutoring in her later years.. Students would come to her from all over the valley.. from five to College age.. She had built a reputation for turning poor students into wonderful high scoring and achieving students.. and half of how she did it was to work with their self worth and self esteem.. Here is her speech that she gave:
  The Power of Posetive Self Concept
by Isabella (Anderson) Erickson

"As a man thinketh in his heart so is he." The child who stands before you, the child you will teach, may have suffered much in his life thus far. His parents may feel aggravated and ashamed because he does not learn. His teachers of past may have been worried, impatient or even cruel tongued at times. (I feel that they have no right to be teachers if they do so.) His siblings may look down upon him with disdain, and there may be times that he is labeled as dumbbell, stupid or M.R. Or there may be times that his playmates may laugh and snicker at him as they make fun of him.. Sadly, if this is so, and it is true for many a child, he may suffer more than we can ever comprehend.
      Now! It is put to you as a teacher (and this applies to parents also), to take him by the hand and with God's help restore his ego and self-confidence. Every little sign of progress praise him and tell him how well he is doing. Never even on his darkest day, never let a discouraging word come from your lips. Always let him think that tomorrow will be a better day and give him hope for a brighter future. You believe it and he will believe it!
      Soon you will begin to see his shoulders straighten, the eye brighten, and he will feel more confident and able to achieve. The power of love and faith are tremendous! Keep your voice sweet and lovely for him. Never let it mirror your exhaustion, or at times the desperation for this child that you may feel. Show him only your hope and love..
       "The glory of God is Intelligence." and by building self concept you are creating a child that will be able to grow in intelligence. Your rewards will be tremendous! The child will be able to learn, to read, to do arithmetic, to write! He will achieve! And someday when he has reached his pinnacle of success, he will turn back to you and hug you and thank God for you!
      His parents will be ever grateful, and your community will be glad that you saved for them a fine and worthwhile citizen and the Lord will say; "Whatsoever thou hast done unto one of the least of these, thou hast done it unto me. "

     Wow! How powerful! I wish that we could all follow through with such advice and example. I experienced her tutoring her students for years as I lived with her during the summers &when I would spend the weekends with her when she moved down to be with our family.
   And she taught with every word that was used in her speech. Students, even college level, would come from all over the valley to be taught by her and their grades and lives were changed for the better.. I saw her and my daddy saw her teach with the exact words that are in her speech and as I know it had an impact on me.. I know that it had an impact on my father also.. His mother was his main rolemodel for his career.. (along with God) ..
     I love how she included God.. Sadly in today’s education we have to leave out God.. How terribly sad.. and when that law came down my dad remembered how heartsick he was when he and teachers all over America had to go through textbooks and story books and delete the name of God, Jesus or Lord from any books he taught from.. Satan won a great battle with that one..

(We'll work on this later)

I have shared much on my first page about being a Christlike person... and also through my death experience... but at this time I want to share another Christlike attribute.. It is to be able to bring out in someone their best.. and to help them overcome their weaknesses.... My grams.. talk was a great example.. She uplifted and touched the lives of so many... helping them to rise  above... mentally.. educationally.. and spiritually..
   as I mentioned before..  My mother was also such a wonderful example also of being positive and Christlike and in helping others feeling wanted, cared for and befriended as the Savior would.. I was so blessed to have her as a mother... It was just a rare occasion that she would ever speak ill of others... or speak of them in a judgmental or critical or degrading manner... I heard her here and there telling us: "If U can't say something nice about the person.. don't say anything at all.."..  and here and there in the last twenty years since she has passed on.. I have had persons come up to me and begin crying as they speak fondly of my dear mother.. Sometimes one of her friends would come up to me and say something like: "Your mother was so sweet to me.. she was my best friend.." or a couple even said that she was their only close friend.. (Two different sisters said this that were from other countries and that couldn't speak hardly any English.. one was Italian so I would speak to her in Italian..  )  Another told me that my mother would always make an effort to sit by sisters who were new or seemed to be sitting alone or had few friends.. if none at all.. My mother would befriend and speak with anyone and everyone.. No matter... I loved this about her.. and I have been blessed to be this same way because of her example.. (All of my siblings are this way because of her.. My daddy can be the same way .. but not near to the extent my mother has been.. )
    Yet another sister from our church I was brought up in  said that my mother would always say wonderful things about others... and if someone ever started to speak ill of another sister or person she said that my mother would say something like: "Now sisters.. I know that sister.. she is ................. ( and she would begin saying great things about this sister) and I just wish you could get to know her how I do... let's not talk ill of her... "
    And I have heard similar things  from several sisters that knew her: One told me that there were times that if my mother were coming towards them and they were gossiping, sharing a negative thing about someone.. someone would say.. "Rea is coming.. let's stop talking about this person and change the subject... because we know she doesn't like us talking ill of anyone.."
       I strive to be this same way many times.. but as my death experience taught me... there were times I would give in and go right along with the negative, harmful gossip that was going on..  and I just realize so much more since my death experience how much negative and even degrading comments go on towards one another.. (Mostly on TV.. but in real life it can happen too.. More so with those not choosing goodness ofcorse..)  What I want to say now is similar to the many words shared on my first page...... even supported by scriptures... basically... It hurts you....  your relationships with others... your thoughts.. your character.. your spiritual soul.. when you are a negative person and especially when you talk ill of others ... just as much as it can hurt the other person...
    Just today I read an awesome post on face book that goes like this:

Before U speak:   THINK;  T= Is it true?  H= Is it helpful?   I= Is it inspiring?  N=Is it necessary? K=Is it kind?

These are such awesome thoughts..  I thought to create my own version...

  THINK before U speak:  T= Are U sharing a false tale or truth??   H= Will it hurt someone or help someone??.. I= Will it injure someone or inspire someone??.. N= Is it necessary to share... or nicer to not share it at all??...   K= Will it be a Kick to that person... like kicking them down ..keeping them down and making their life worse or will it be a kind thing to share that will help that person rise above their problems.. weaknesses and hardships...

There are times that we have the power to share words that can help others or that will bring them down...
     Too many times UnChristlike approaches or words are being shared that are bringing others down and keeping them in the dumps or hurting or suffering.. (For some it can even lead to a rebuttal through killing others who are mentally hurting them or sadly even to that person taking their lives as they can't deal with it anymore..)... and as the angel reminded me...  If we are going to talk of others weaknesses and downfalls.. It should be done with  a unconditional love for that person.. no matter what he has done.. with a sorrowful feeling that that person has chosen to leave God concerning some of their choices.. and knowing that more ill and bad consequences will surly follow that they will have to suffer.. but saddest if they estrange themselves from God and His Son.. their Savior and opportunity to heal and rise above..   and where possible done with words, thoughts and ideas.. love and prayers.. on how we can help or uplift, or bring that person closer to God.. What a difference this could make when we share negative things about one... in these positive ways..

 As I said before... You are hurting urself spiritually when you don't speak of others in these manners and if not .... Heavenly Father's spirit is not with you when you speak of others in the wrong manner..  That means satan can take over...  and this can be a downfall to ur soul... as well as the person that U are speaking ill of..

Strive to rise above... be positive... loving.. Kind...  to help others rise above and overcome... If only all of us were striving to be more CHRISTLIKE... In all we say or do... ... think how incredible the world would be like if we were all striving for this goal...

Make a list of all that you are thankful for..
Watch the movie "Pollyanna" and read the book: "The Hiding Place".

(Add  Personal experiences where prayer has helped me.....).

I am an avid reader and learned to love reading from my incredible mom that would many times be found with a book in her hand.. She could speedread through one very quickly.. yet absorbing everything... She is the one that first introduced me to reading spiritual books and when I was in my deep postpartum depression after my fifth child.. The spirit hit me so powerfully that I needed to turn everything I did over to God to get out of it and so I chose to once more only listen to religious music.. watch only religious viewing on T.V. (Many times Little house on the Prarie was the only regular T.V. show I could watch as it many times has this wonderful spiritual side to it.. oh and also "Touched by an Angel".. besides regular religious viewing on religious chanels.. and I new that I had to lay off reading books of the world.. Not that the ones I chose were bad.. but I then decided to heed my promptings to choose only religious books which ofcorse included an increase in my scripture study Pic: Christ-Pictures-Images.blogspot  time.. At the time and as I read a wide varitety of books, so only choose religious ones during this time I was trying to get out of my depression.. and I am happy to say that soon after I chose to do this I did.. God works miracles and the more you choose to totally turn your life over to him he will ease your burdens or maybe even take them from you...
   So then I went to the library and the thrift shop and once more doubled up on religious sided books, always keeping them out so I could read them here and there and not all at once as I used to love to do before I had children..
    When I bought them from the thrift store or they were given to me by friends..  I would read the book and then find that they would just sit there and pile up after.. so I decided.. that they were so wonderful that I wanted to share them with others so I was inspired to start the Heavenly Book Club... and in this club.. we would get together and review with others about Spiritual books they were reading and each would give a quick overview of the book and then pass it on to a person who hadn't read it and we had a list of who read what so they wouldn't miss reading a book..
    Now I ended up not doing the book club after about three months.. as we all seemed to be too busy and I was also caught up in so much that was going on with my two little ones and other three teens and my disabled husband, that something had to go.. but.... I decided to continue the club in another way... After I finished a book (If it wasn't the Libraries.) I would share the book with someone then ask them to pass it on to someone they know will read it and ask them to continue the cycle and do the same...... Inside the book I had written that it was a Heavenly book Club Book and to write your name and a comment in it after you have read it .. then pass it on to someone that you know will do the same... And for about a year I was faithful at doing this and I ended up passing on about 50 or 60 books at least (maybe more, I read much more but did want to keep some for myself.. or they were library books or books that I wanted to read over and over.. ) but then sadly I quit doing that.. but I would love it if someone would try to use this example and start up a group in your area or do it the way that I passed the book on... I am hoping that somewhere out there some of my books are still being passed around... I keep on thinking to start my club up again, but never do.. although I do still pass around books here and there but not near as often..  So please start it for me and God..
